Otto by Polpo - Bryn Mawr

Almost two months after my birthday I cashed in my friends IOU for dinner and drinks - I was in need of a girls night!  We have been talking for months about trying Otto by Polpo located in Bryn Mawr (right next to the Bryn Mawr train station).  I had driven by it a thousand times and even looked up their menu - it sounded delicious...and it was.  The best (known) secret is that it's a BYOB - who doesn't love a local BYOB?

As an appetizer we shared the Gamberi - grilled shrimp, cannelloni beans, and baby arugula. They had several specials that night which all sounded equally good. I ordered the homemade Fiocchetti special in a cream sauce with shrimp and crab.  Eating this dish brought me right back to my trip in the Spring of 2019 to Bologna, Italy.  You could tell the pasta was homemade, it was phenomenal. My friend got the Capellini Alla Positano (without capers).  To note, the chef is very good about meeting any dietary restrictions!

Most recently, my husband and I went there for our anniversary - he was equally impressed with the quality of food.  He says, "You know you're in an authentic Italian restaurant when they have a real espresso machine."  It's typically the first thing he looks for - a Nespresso machine doesn't count...he does have a good point.

If you need a date night or want to simply not cook a meal for a night, I highly recommend trying Otto by Polpo!  Learn more about the Chef and the family in this December article from Main Line Today.
